Every year on October 5th, people from all walks of life will come together to celebrate the richness and diversity of the mammalian world. Global Mammal Day will be more than a date—it'll be a growing movement to honor, protect, and advocate for mammals, large and small, across our planet. Join us in celebrating these extraordinary beings who share our ecosystems, our homes, and our stories.
Mammals are all around majestic elephants in the savannah, bats fluttering under moonlit skies, river dolphins surfacing gracefully, and even the family pet curled up by your feet. They touch our lives in profound ways. Yet, many mammals face growing threats: habitat loss, climate change, illegal trade, and pollution. Global Mammal Day exists to spotlight these issues, bring people together, and turn compassion into action. We believe that when people connect emotionally with nature, they’re more likely to fight for it.
Our mission is to inspire people everywhere to appreciate and protect mammals, raising awareness of the challenges they face and the role each of us can play in ensuring their future. Our vision is simple but powerful: a world where every mammal—no matter how big or small—is respected, protected, and allowed to thrive.
Global Mammal Day is hosted by the Global Wildlife Fair, a platform dedicated to connecting people, tourism, organizations, and ideas around the shared goal of wildlife preservation. Backed by conservationists, educators, creatives, tourism leaders, and advocates from around the world, this annual event is designed to be inclusive, accessible, and celebratory.
Whether you’re a schoolteacher, a scientist, a student, an ecotourist, or simply a mammal enthusiast- there’s a place for you in this movement. You can participate by organizing or joining a local event, sharing your favorite mammal story online, applying to be a regional ambassador, or However you choose to get involved, your voice matters.
From mammal walks and storytelling circles to photo exhibitions and panel discussions, Global Mammal Day is about engaging communities in meaningful and fun ways. You can create your own event or browse our global map to find one near you.
No matter your background or resources, our free toolkits help you make the most of Global Mammal Day. For educators, we offer interactive lesson plans and classroom activities. For community groups, we’ve designed event guides, posters, and mammal-spotting cards.
We believe in recognizing those who go above and beyond. That’s why we created the Mammal Champions Awards to celebrate schools, individuals, organizations, and young leaders making a difference. Winners will be featured on our site and social media, receive certificates, and get a chance to inspire others around the world.
Our Global Mammal Day Ambassadors are passionate individuals who lead from the heart. As an ambassador, you'll help spread awareness, coordinate local events, engage your community, and be a voice for mammals in your region. Whether you’re a university student, a wildlife tourism outfit, or a wildlife NGO, your energy can ripple across borders. We’ll support you with resources, training, and promotion—because together, we go further.
